Discovering Your Personal Set of Values
To discover your values, find what makes you truly happy. Then, ask yourself why those things bring you joy. The answers will lead you to your core values.
Being empathetic
Being empathetic means considering and understanding another person's perspective, validating their feelings, and being fully present. My ministerial training and clinical pastoral education have also helped in that regard.
Boundaries
Boundaries were about loving myself and other people in my life. Think about it, if you don’t maintain the boundaries that people encroach on, your space, your values, etc., you, in turn, become angry, resentful, hurt, and may possibly lash out. In those situations, neither person is showing the other love.
Expressing Emotions
This inability affected my quality of life. I didn’t have healthy interpersonal relationships, which hindered my ability to stand up for myself, among other things.
