Being empathetic
Being empathetic means considering and understanding another person's perspective, validating their feelings, and being fully present. My ministerial training and clinical pastoral education have also helped in that regard.
Expressing Emotions
This inability affected my quality of life. I didn’t have healthy interpersonal relationships, which hindered my ability to stand up for myself, among other things.
Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence is being aware of our emotions and being able to control and express them, maintaining good interpersonal relationships, and having empathy.
Aligning With Your Values
When I finally had those values written down, life started to make sense again, and my decisions now felt right. I became less and less worried about what other people would think about me and more concerned with whether what I was doing was in line with my values.
