Agreement on Behavior
We agree to:
be each other’s support and share each other’s joy.
respect diversity in all its manifestations as a sign of strength; honor all contributions to the community.
listen deeply to all points of view.
communicate compassionately, directly, and honestly.
use “I” language.
respect confidentiality.
confront our assumptions.
disagree with an idea, but not the person. Disagree respectfully. Express our opinion in a non-confrontational way.
own the impact of our actions and words.
respect when someone says they have been hurt by our actions.
offer an apology or try to make amends if we cause harm.
accept that being willing to offer an apology does not mean that the person we hurt has to accept it. (There is room for forgiveness, but it might not always happen.)
seek the support of moderators or hosts in resolving conflict if necessary.
